Continuous recordings from battery-powered security cameras seem to be a new trend at this point. People like Reolink and Eufy already have their own variations – and Ezviz wants this action too.
China’s Smart Home Specialist has announced a new feature called AOV (Always On Video). This brings continuous, time-lapse style recording to the three outdoor cameras without turning the charging routine into a second job.
The CB3 AOV, CB8 Lite, and CB90 kits are the first in Ezviz’s lineup to receive AOV treatment.
However, AOV doesn’t actually mean 24/7 video footage. Instead of maintaining full alerts like a wired camera, this feature allows you to wake up at regular intervals where a battery-powered model can be defined regularly and record snippets of footage sewn into time-lapse.
You can fast-forward to a milder time, then quickly jump to real-time video every time a person or car enters a frame, giving you a better grasp of what exactly happened.
That’s right (the top doesn’t have an AOV. The following shows how AOV technology works)…
This technology resides within the camera’s chipset, allowing Ezviz’s regular AI smart to continue detecting humans and vehicles. It also increases detection ranges up to 25 meters, far beyond the range of standard PIR sensors that most other battery cams rely on.
Naturally, this kind of 24/7 coverage can wreak havoc on the battery, but Ezviz is bolstering the power packs offered.
The flagship CB90 is rich in 10,400mAh batteries and bundled with 8W solar panels, while the CB8 Lite also includes solar panels.
Even if the mix has rained for a few days, Ezbiz claims that these setups can keep things up to 120 days in ample sunlight, or for a long time.
Characteristically, there is a considerable overlap between the three models: AI-powered shape detection, two-way talk, Alexa and Google Assistant support, siren and strobe deterrent, color night vision, and weather resistance all come standard.
The main differences lie in design and resolution. The CB3 AOV shoots at 2K, the CB8 light and CB90 collide at up to 2K+, and the CB90 adds a dual-lens system with wide-angle and zoom views, as well as local storage below Wi-Fi 6.
