verdict
It’s not for everyone, but the Eufy Robot Vacuum E20 3-in-1 is a clever combination of robot vacuum cleaners and handheld cleaners perfect for small apartments and spaces. That handheld vacuum cleaner is lifted to tackle spot jobs. Cleaning is better than carpet on hard floors, but generally, a mix of decent robotic cleaning and decent apps makes this an interesting choice in the right situation.

Eufy Robot Vacuum E20 3-in-1: Introduction
There were other robot vacuum cleaners with cordless vacuum cleaners, but these were always separate. A cordless vacuum cleaner, a fully integrated part of the Eufy Robot Vacuum E20 3-in-1, is lifted from the robot.
This is an easier setup and this makes it an interesting choice for smaller properties, as the robot and cordless handheld cleaner share the bin and battery.
Power is the best other robots can offer, and there are no mopping options, but for work, this is a neat combination.
Design and Components
The Eufy Robot Vacuum E20 3-in-1 appears somewhat unusual when considered a robot.
Instead of a smooth, flat top, a cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is cut out at the top, where the bin becomes the regular cleaner. In fact, the clear plastic bins you can see are for both handheld units and robots.
If you want to work on a job manually, you will need to press the big red button that makes it while the robot is docked to lift the handheld from the robot.

Neat, the gap tool easily reaches the top of the robot and connects it to the bottom of the cordless handheld when ready to use.

In addition to the brush, the box also comes with an adjustable height cane and a standard floor head.
These components do not have storage areas in or around the dock. This is a bit disappointing. I realized that I really don’t need a cane or a floor head every day. The combination of robot and handheld gap tools proved to be sufficient for most jobs. Other components were placed in the cupboard.

One thing is as neat as the design and weird. The gaps and brush tools cannot be clipped to the bottom of the wand and cannot be attached directly to the handheld unit.
If you want to clean the top of your cupboard, or if you want to clean around a round board without being twisted, it’s a pain.

The handheld is easy to use. There is a power-on button at the top. It also functions as a mode selector for selecting four power modes.
It’s realistically more power modes than necessary, and maybe three did the trick.
When Power Mode is selected, the green LED strips remain in rough battery life and are displayed when in handheld mode and robot mode.

The handheld bins can be removed and empty manually, but I would like to occasionally remove the bins to reach the filter for cleaning.

For daily operations, the docking station takes a large 3-liter bag (sized enough for 75 days of dirt) and automatically emptys the robot when docked.

If you are using only handheld mode, you can hold the recharge button. This will allow the robot to leave the dock, spin and then redok, sucking out the dirt.
Once done, the robot reverses this and redocates with charging pads lined up.

That’s not ideal, but I think the robot’s design makes it impossible to place the charging connector and empty ports in a place where they can be used at the same time.
Below that, the robot vacuum cleaner has a fairly standard layout with one roller brush and side brushes for edge cleaning. This cleaner does not have any mopping options and clearly does not have the space to fit the required components.

On the front of the Eufy Robot Vacuum E20 3-in-1 is a sensor that can detect objects over 15mm.
This allows the robot to skirt around shoes and large items, but it is easy to overlook small objects such as pet confusion and cables. To improve object evasion, you need a robot with camera and AI object recognition.
App
Managing the robotic portion of the combination requires Eufy Clean and is home to other products from the company, such as the Eufy X10 Pro Omni. Connect your Eufy Robot Vacuum E20 3-in-1 to Wi-Fi and run the initial mapping run quickly.
At the end of the mapping run, E20 will propose the layout of your home’s room. If your map is not satisfied, it’s easy to split or merge rooms to get the layout you want.
The advanced settings allow you to add a variety of carpet types to each room. This will help the E20 make appropriate cleaning decisions.

Navigation is generally good, but if you have areas where your E20 appears to be stuck, or if you don’t want to move to a specific location, there are no zones or virtual boundaries you can add to the map.
As a vacuum-only robot, the E20 features simple cleaning controls. Anywhere you can choose to clean a specific room (or room) of your choice, or a designated zone that can be marked on the map. Then there are four power modes (quiet, standard, turbo, or maximum), plus one or two pass options.

There aren’t many advanced settings, but Boostiq is worth turning on to increase suction power on the carpet. It also controls how the car works in both robotic and handheld modes.
In the latter case, if the handheld is in use for more than 10 minutes, the robot will automatically be empty, but as pointed out, it can manually lead the robot to the same job.

performance
This is a more midrange vacuum cleaner. In handheld mode, power is delayed behind the best cordless vacuum cleaners such as the Dyson Gen5Detect.

In handheld mode with wands and floor heads, the E20 does a reasonable job, but it does have a bit of a struggle with the edges of the floor and the carpet, and requires a handheld tool to gather everything together. That said, the hard floor performance is excellent, and the E20 can easily handle all the mess.

It’s a shame that the primary brush roll is not an anti-chair wrap model and can get caught in long hair.
In robot mode, the E20 does a pretty good test. It will catch the most difficult spills on the carpet, but for the most difficult mess I had to vacuum by hand to complete the job.

On hard floors, the E20 works well, but I expect it to have to be cleaned up at the edge of the room using a gap tool. It was easier to work on spot clean with handheld tools.
The E20 can handle two passes in my test home. This didn’t leave much battery power.
Final Thoughts
It’s not for everyone, the Eufy Robot Vacuum E20 3-in-1 is better than the carpet on the hard floor.
But if you have a small apartment or office that you want to vacuum automatically, and if you have the option to work on spot jobs by hand, it’s a great combination.
Testing method
When publishing reviews, you can reassure them that they are the result of a long-term test “live.”
Robot cleaners usually live within the ecosystem, or a range of different products where everything works harmoniously. It is also designed to offer a variety of cleaning options. Therefore, it is impossible to use a robot cleaner for a week to provide a verdict.
As you test your smart home kit every day, you know what’s important and how a particular smart cleaning machine compares to the alternatives you may be considering too.
Our reviews are comprehensive, objective and fair, and of course you will not be paid directly to review your device.
