Swann’s latest smart doorbell has finally landed in the UK…and this can actually be spoken.
The new EVO wireless video doorbell was first shipped to Swannshield, the company’s AI-powered voice assistant, which aims to compete.
Unlike the canned food responses you get from most doorbells, Swannshield uses the generated AI to maintain a natural conversation with people at the entrance.
The Swannshield was announced last October, but the new EVO doorbell is the first device to be launched in the UK to boast of its technology.
There are plenty of smart video doorbells that allow you to choose a voice response when someone calls or even record a reset message when a button is pressed, but Swannshield is the first in terms of making the actual AI bot your virtual gatekeeper.
Swannshield uses adaptive AI to manage real-time interactions and provide intelligent responses that respond dynamically based on situations at hand. I think I’ll tell the delivery person to leave the parcel with a specific location or a specific neighbor, but after asking the caller what the exact first location.
Swann says that for Swannshield to have conversations using natural, human-like interactions, there is a “realistic voice” with eight accents and three attitudes, and can communicate with users in 100 auto-detecting languages.
The hardware of the EVO wireless video doorbell itself checks most boxes. Get 2K video, 140° field of view, night vision up to 5m, motion and heat detection, and two-way audio via apps.
It also has a portable indoor chime with six ringtones and a slot for a MicroSD card (up to 256GB), allowing you to completely throw away your cloud subscription fees.
EVO wireless video doorbells are currently available directly from Swann and have a wider deployment in the UK and Ireland.
At £89.99, it’s pretty budget-friendly and the Swannshield AI is included at no additional cost.
