Switchbot is back with a new pair of launches that pushes the boundaries of smart home retro fitting. The SwitchBotLock Ultra Vision Combo is the world’s first retrofit smart lock with built-in 3D facial recognition. The Switchbot Hub 3 is a new material-enabled hub designed to fill the gap between Switchbot gear and other smart homes.
Starting with a Rock Ultra Vision combo, as the name suggests, it is a system that includes Rock Ultra itself (announced at CES in January) along with the new Keypad Vision.
To build an accurate 3D map of faces using over 30,000 infrared points, it is keypad vision that provides smart face recognition systems to build an accurate 3D map of faces with just 0.0001% false recognition rate.
All that data remains local and is encrypted with AES-128, but works in the dark thanks to the built-in IR lighting.
In total, there are 18 ways to open a lock Ultra Vision combo, including facial recognition, fingerprints, Auto-Unlock via Bluetooth, NFC cards, and voice control.
The locks are also designed to be almost popular. The Switchbot says it fits 99.9% of existing locks without drilling, such as night latches and Jimmy Proof setups.
The hardware has been upgraded from Lock Pro. The new motor is over 120% faster than the previous model, a little stronger, and runs quietly like 20dB. During bedtime, there is also a night mode for the super-kiet lock.
The battery life from a rechargeable battery is 9-12 months, and there is also a backup CR123A cell and an electrolytic emergency release system.
Available on the Switchbot online store and on Amazon for $249.99 in the US (15% off release period using code 15OFFBW522).
A slightly cheaper touch combo (skip facial recognition) is also available for $209.99/£249.99.
Along the lock, Switchboy also ruled out the cover of the Switchbot Hub 3, which had torn the cover a few weeks ago.
Hub 3 is a problem-ready and allows you to embed over 100,000 IR-based devices, including older TVs and sound systems, into platforms like Apple Home.
It also supports up to 30 programmable scenes, including material-compatible gear from other brands.
Its outstanding feature seems to be its clever knob, the official name of the Dialmaster Rotary Controller.
You can physically adjust the volume, lighting, or temperature. It also has support for customizable buttons, real-time indoor/outdoor environment monitoring, and automation based on embedded sensors. Perfect for setting up energy-saving routines and comfort-based triggers.
Hub 3 is available directly from Switchbot and Amazon for $119.99/£129.99.
