The Wiim sound looks like a home pod with a display

After creating budget-friendly streamer and amplifier names, Wiim has ruled out the covers for its dedicated smart speakers.

New Wiim Sound is the company’s first all-in-one smart speaker, built to impress both audio files and streamers

At first glance, it looks like an Apple HomePod with a screen.

Beneath the fabric-wrapped shell is a 100W setup with a 4-inch woofer, a dual passive radiator, and a clever calibration system that automatically adapts the sound to the room.

You can also manually adjust everything using 10 band graphics and parametric EQ. You can also fine-tune the 24 built-in sound profiles if you want to press Play.

There is a 1.8-inch color touch screen above album art, menus, quick controls and playback buttons.

You can stream wirelessly over Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 or Ethernet, and it has a 3.5mm AUX input in legacy gear.

Cast support covers all of Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, DLNA, and Alexa casts.

It obviously functions as part of the Wiim Multiroom system, but can also be used as part of the Alexa Multiroom Group.

It works well with Alexa and Google Assistant, bundled with Wiim Voice Remote, and brings hands-free controls out of the box.

It can also be used to combine the two Wiim sounds from True Stereo or as part of a Dolby 5.1 setup, which includes center speakers and surround speakers.

Like the rest of the Wiim gear, the sound benefits from frequent firmware updates and adding new features over time.

The company says the speakers will be released in the third quarter of 2025 and it will be announced that prices will approach release.

Sonos’ rivals have ruled out the new sub-pro cover with an 8-inch driver and a Class D amplifier. The WiimAmpUltra boasts the ES9039Q2M Saber DAC, a 3.5-inch touchscreen, and can deliver 100W of power per channel.
